About Switzerland Tourism: Promoting Switzerland to the World

Switzerland Tourism (known as Schweiz Tourismus in German, Suisse Tourisme in French, and Svizzera Turismo in Italian) serves as the official national and international promotional authority for Switzerland as the premier destination for holidays, travel, and congress events. Our mission is to showcase Switzerland's extraordinary beauty, diversity, and hospitality to travelers worldwide.

Our Global Presence and Team

With our headquarters strategically positioned in the vibrant center of Zurich and an extensive network of 36 offices spanning 22 international markets, Switzerland Tourism employs 280 dedicated professionals who work every single day to market Switzerland in innovative and unconventional ways. We pride ourselves on creative approaches that position Switzerland as a particularly attractive and diverse travel destination that captivates millions of visitors annually.

Our Zurich headquarters serves as the central hub for our global operations, housing teams responsible for marketing strategy, creative development, partnership management, and organizational support functions. This historic building in the heart of Zurich combines architectural heritage with modern infrastructure, creating an inspiring workplace that reflects the blend of tradition and innovation that characterizes Switzerland itself.

The Role: Infrastructure Specialist - Creating the Foundation for Excellence

As an Infrastructure Specialist at Switzerland Tourism, you will be responsible for the perfect operation, cleanliness, and safety of our building and outdoor areas. While this might sound like a simple facilities role, it's actually a position of significant importance—you make a vital contribution to creating a pleasant and safe environment that enables our 280 employees worldwide and our Zurich-based team members to focus on their mission of promoting Switzerland.

Why This Role Matters

Every successful organization depends on a solid foundation of well-maintained facilities and infrastructure. When heating systems work flawlessly during winter, when spaces are impeccably clean and welcoming, when minor issues are resolved before they become major problems, when outdoor areas are safe and accessible year-round—that's when employees can truly focus on their work without distraction or concern.

Your work creates the physical environment that shapes how employees feel about coming to work each day. A well-maintained, clean, safe building isn't just about compliance or efficiency—it's about respect, professionalism, and creating an environment where people can do their best work. Your positive demeanor and helpful approach further enhance this environment, making you not just a technical specialist but a valued member of the Switzerland Tourism community.

The Part-Time Advantage

This 30% position, structured across three half-days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), offers an ideal work-life balance for experienced professionals. Whether you're seeking to complement other professional activities, pursue personal interests, balance family commitments, or transition toward a more flexible work arrangement, this schedule provides consistency and predictability while maintaining strong connection to meaningful work.

Your Area of Responsibility: Comprehensive Facilities Management

Building Operations, Maintenance, and Upkeep

You will take primary responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of our buildings, facilities, and infrastructure. This encompasses conducting regular inspections to identify maintenance needs before they become problems, performing preventive maintenance according to established schedules, coordinating with external service providers when specialized work is required, maintaining detailed records of all maintenance activities and repairs, and ensuring all building systems operate efficiently and reliably.

Your proactive approach to building management means you anticipate issues, plan maintenance strategically, and ensure our facilities consistently meet high standards of functionality and appearance. You'll develop deep familiarity with every aspect of our building's systems and infrastructure, becoming the go-to expert for all facilities-related matters.

Minor Repairs and Manual Work

Execute minor repairs and manual work that keeps our facilities operating smoothly. This includes fixing minor plumbing issues like leaky faucets or running toilets, addressing small electrical problems within your competency and safety parameters, repairing door handles, locks, and other hardware, touching up paint or repairing minor wall damage, replacing light bulbs and basic fixtures, assembling or repairing furniture, and handling various handyman tasks that arise in daily building operations.

Your craftsmanship and technical skills enable you to resolve many issues quickly without requiring external contractors, saving time and resources while ensuring rapid response to employee needs. You know when to handle tasks personally and when to escalate to specialized professionals, demonstrating sound judgment that balances capability with safety and quality.

Control and Monitoring of Technical Installations

Control and monitor our heating, ventilation, and sanitary installations to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. This involves regularly checking heating systems to maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the building, monitoring ventilation systems to ensure proper air quality and circulation, inspecting sanitary installations including toilets, sinks, and water systems, adjusting settings seasonally to optimize energy efficiency while maintaining comfort, identifying and addressing issues promptly to prevent service interruptions, and maintaining awareness of all technical systems' operating parameters and performance indicators.

Your technical understanding enables you to spot anomalies early, make appropriate adjustments, and coordinate with specialized technicians when advanced troubleshooting or repairs are needed. You ensure that these critical systems—often taken for granted when working properly—consistently deliver the comfortable, healthy environment our employees depend on.

Planning, Organization, and Control of Cleaning Work

Plan, organize, and supervise cleaning work to maintain impeccable standards throughout our facilities. This includes developing and implementing cleaning schedules that ensure all areas receive appropriate attention, coordinating with cleaning staff or services to ensure work is completed to specification, conducting quality inspections to verify cleaning standards are consistently met, managing cleaning supplies inventory and ordering materials as needed, addressing special cleaning needs for events or situations, maintaining administrative records of cleaning activities and quality control, and responding promptly to any cleanliness concerns raised by employees.

Your organizational skills and attention to detail ensure that our workspace consistently reflects the professionalism and quality that Switzerland Tourism represents. A clean, well-maintained environment directly impacts employee wellbeing, productivity, and pride in their workplace.

Maintenance of Green Areas, Paths, and Outdoor Spaces

Maintain our green areas, paths, and outdoor spaces to ensure they're safe, attractive, and accessible year-round. This responsibility includes caring for landscaped areas including the garden entrance, keeping paths clear and safe for employee and visitor access, providing winter service including snow removal and ice prevention, managing seasonal outdoor maintenance tasks, ensuring outdoor lighting and fixtures are functional, and maintaining outdoor furniture and equipment.

The outdoor areas represent our first impression to visitors and partners while providing employees with pleasant spaces for breaks and outdoor meetings. Your maintenance ensures these spaces remain inviting and safe regardless of season or weather conditions.

Event Hall Support and Preparation

Provide preparation, support, and assistance for renting and using our event hall. This involves setting up the space according to event requirements including furniture arrangement and equipment placement, ensuring all technical systems (lighting, AV equipment, climate control) are operational, conducting pre-event and post-event inspections, coordinating with event organizers to understand and fulfill their needs, troubleshooting any technical issues during events, and ensuring the space is cleaned and restored after events.

Our event hall serves as an important venue for internal meetings, presentations, and external partner events. Your support ensures every event runs smoothly, reflecting positively on Switzerland Tourism and creating successful experiences for users.

Administrative Tasks and Documentation

Handle various administrative tasks that support effective facilities management. This includes placing orders for materials, supplies, and equipment as needed, maintaining comprehensive maintenance protocols and documentation, generating reports on cleaning activities and quality standards, tracking expenses and budget utilization for facilities operations, maintaining inventory records for tools, equipment, and supplies, and ensuring all required documentation is current and accessible.

Your administrative diligence creates transparency, enables informed decision-making, supports budget management, and ensures continuity of operations even when you're not on-site.

Postal Processing and Errands

Manage postal processing and run errands as needed to support building operations. This includes receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail and packages, preparing outgoing mail and coordinating with postal services, purchasing supplies or materials from local vendors when required, transporting items between locations if needed, and handling various logistical tasks that support smooth operations.

These seemingly simple tasks are actually important touchpoints that keep operations flowing smoothly and support your colleagues in their daily work.

Our Requirements: Your Qualifications and Experience

Professional Training and Background

We require completed basic training in the area of business maintenance (Betriebsunterhalt) or in a related profession that provides relevant technical competencies. Suitable backgrounds include electrical installation and systems, plumbing and sanitary technology, school building maintenance (Hauswart), building technology and automation, facility management, or similar technical trades that provide a solid foundation for comprehensive building maintenance work.

Your formal training ensures you have the technical knowledge, safety awareness, and professional standards needed to manage our facilities responsibly and effectively.

Extensive Professional Experience

You bring several years of professional experience specifically in the field of house maintenance or facilities management. This experience has taught you how buildings and systems function, how to anticipate and prevent problems, how to prioritize tasks effectively, how to work safely and efficiently, and how to balance multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Your experience means you can work with minimal supervision, make sound independent decisions, and bring a depth of practical knowledge that only comes from years of hands-on work in facilities management.

Technical Understanding and Craftsmanship

You possess strong technical understanding across various building systems and trades, enabling you to diagnose problems, implement solutions, and communicate effectively with specialized contractors when needed. Your craftsmanship—the pride you take in doing quality work with attention to detail—ensures every repair, maintenance task, or improvement reflects professional standards.

You understand how different systems interact, recognize when issues might have deeper causes, and apply systematic troubleshooting approaches rather than just addressing symptoms. Your technical competence inspires confidence among colleagues and ensures our facilities receive expert care.

Independent, Reliable, and Responsible Work Approach

Your work style is characterized by independence, reliability, and strong sense of responsibility. You don't require constant supervision or detailed instructions—you understand what needs to be done, plan your work effectively, and execute tasks with minimal oversight. Colleagues can depend on you to follow through on commitments, respond to issues promptly, and maintain high standards consistently.

Your sense of responsibility extends beyond just completing assigned tasks—you take ownership of the entire facilities environment, proactively identifying and addressing issues even when they're not explicitly assigned to you. You're the person who notices things others might miss and takes action to resolve them.

Friendly, Helpful Demeanor and People Skills

You bring a friendly, helpful demeanor and genuinely enjoy contact with people. While your role is primarily technical, you interact daily with employees, visitors, contractors, and service providers. Your positive attitude and helpfulness make these interactions pleasant and productive. You're approachable when colleagues have questions or concerns, patient when explaining technical matters, and consistently professional in all interactions.

Your smile and positive presence contribute significantly to the welcoming atmosphere at Switzerland Tourism. You understand that facilities management isn't just about buildings and systems—it's about creating an environment where people feel comfortable, supported, and valued.

Flexible Working Hours and Availability

You demonstrate willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including occasional early morning or evening assignments for special events, urgent repairs, or situations that require attendance outside regular hours. While your standard schedule is three half-days per week, you understand that facilities management sometimes requires flexibility to address urgent needs or support important events.

Your flexibility and willingness to accommodate special situations when necessary demonstrate professional commitment and reliability that's highly valued in facilities roles.

Language Capabilities

You speak fluent German, which is essential for daily communication with colleagues, coordination with service providers, and understanding technical documentation and regulations. Additionally, foreign language skills—particularly Spanish or Portuguese—are considered an advantage, as they may facilitate communication with cleaning staff, contractors, or service providers from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Your language abilities contribute to effective communication and smooth coordination across all aspects of facilities management.
