The Role
We're seeking an exceptional Solutions Architect to join our growing team and become a trusted advisor to utility clients across North America. In this strategic role, you'll serve as the technical bridge between client business objectives and SpryPoint's innovative platform capabilities, designing and implementing enterprise solutions that transform how utilities operate and serve their communities.
As a Solutions Architect at SpryPoint, you'll combine deep technical expertise with business acumen and client relationship skills to deliver transformative outcomes. You'll work on complex, high-impact projects where your architectural decisions directly influence how millions of utility customers experience essential services. This isn't a desk job—you'll be at the forefront of digital transformation in the utility sector, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to solve challenging problems and implement solutions that set new industry standards.
Your role extends beyond technical design. You'll become a strategic partner to clients, understanding their unique operational challenges, regulatory requirements, and growth aspirations. You'll then translate these insights into elegant, scalable solutions that leverage SpryPoint's cloud-native platform while integrating seamlessly with clients' existing systems and processes. Your expertise will shape implementation strategies, guide technical teams, and ensure that every solution delivers measurable business value.
This position offers significant growth potential within a rapidly scaling organization. You'll gain exposure to the full breadth of utility operations—from billing and customer engagement to field service management and regulatory compliance—while working with cutting-edge cloud technologies and modern software architectures. If you're passionate about solving complex problems, enjoy working directly with clients, and want to make a tangible impact on an essential industry, this role provides the perfect platform for your talents.
🎯 What You'll Be Doing
Strategic Client Partnership & Solution Design
You'll serve as a trusted technical advisor to utility clients, building deep relationships with stakeholders across operational, technical, and executive levels. Through collaborative discovery sessions, you'll gain comprehensive understanding of each client's business processes, pain points, system landscape, and strategic objectives. You'll then architect tailored solutions that align business goals with SpryPoint's platform capabilities, designing configurations, integrations, and workflows that optimize operations while positioning clients for future growth.
Your solution designs will balance immediate needs with long-term scalability, considering factors such as regulatory compliance, system performance, user experience, data security, and operational efficiency. You'll create detailed architecture documentation including system diagrams, data flow maps, integration specifications, and configuration blueprints that guide implementation teams and provide clients with clear technical roadmaps.
Discovery Leadership & Process Optimization
Leading comprehensive discovery sessions is central to your success. You'll facilitate workshops with diverse client teams to document current-state processes, identify improvement opportunities, and define future-state workflows. Your ability to ask probing questions, understand complex operational nuances, and synthesize information from multiple sources will be critical.
You'll map intricate business processes across the entire meter-to-cash lifecycle, creating detailed process documentation that serves as the foundation for system configuration. Your process analysis will identify inefficiencies, compliance risks, and automation opportunities, enabling you to recommend optimizations that deliver immediate value. For large, multi-faceted utilities, you'll manage extensive process mapping projects involving dozens of workflows, hundreds of business rules, and complex interdependencies.
Implementation Excellence & Quality Assurance
Ensuring flawless implementation quality is paramount. You'll conduct thorough design reviews, configuration audits, and documentation assessments throughout the implementation lifecycle. Your technical expertise will guide development and configuration teams, providing architectural oversight that maintains solution integrity and prevents technical debt.
You'll oversee system configuration to ensure it aligns with approved designs and follows best practices. You'll review and provide feedback on training materials, test cases, and user documentation to ensure they accurately reflect the implemented solution and support successful user adoption. Your quality assurance activities will catch issues early, reducing implementation risks and ensuring clients receive solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
Integration Architecture & Technical Leadership
Modern utilities operate complex technology ecosystems, and seamless integration is essential. You'll design integration architectures that connect SpryPoint's platform with clients' existing systems—including Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), payment processors, customer portals, and regulatory reporting systems.
Your integration designs will specify APIs, data mappings, synchronization schedules, error handling protocols, and security measures. You'll evaluate integration approaches, recommending optimal methods based on factors like data volume, latency requirements, system capabilities, and long-term maintainability. Your technical leadership will ensure integrations are robust, performant, and well-documented.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Comprehensive documentation underpins sustainable implementations. You'll maintain and update critical project artifacts including configuration guides, integration specifications, test cases, issue logs, and operational runbooks. Your documentation will serve multiple audiences—technical teams implementing solutions, client IT staff maintaining systems, and business users understanding new processes.
You'll also facilitate knowledge transfer, ensuring clients' internal teams can effectively support and optimize their SpryPoint solutions post-implementation. Your ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences will be essential to empowering clients for long-term success.
🌟 What You Bring to the Table
Required Qualifications & Experience
Enterprise Utility Software Implementation Expertise
You bring 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing enterprise utility software, with particular depth in Customer Information Systems (CIS). You understand the unique complexities of utility operations—rate structures, meter reading cycles, billing determinants, service orders, credit and collections, regulatory reporting, and customer engagement. Your CIS implementation experience means you can quickly understand clients' requirements and design solutions that address both standard utility workflows and unique operational needs.
Process Mapping & Analysis Mastery
Your proven ability to map complex business processes sets you apart. You've successfully managed large process mapping initiatives, documenting intricate workflows, decision points, system interactions, and business rules. You understand various process modeling notations and can adapt your approach to client preferences. Your process documentation is both technically accurate and accessible to business stakeholders, serving as effective communication tools and implementation blueprints.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Excellence
You possess a sharp, analytical mind capable of dissecting complex problems, identifying root causes, and developing efficient solutions quickly. When faced with conflicting requirements, technical constraints, or unexpected challenges, you remain calm and methodical, evaluating options and recommending paths forward. Your problem-solving approach balances short-term pragmatism with long-term architectural integrity.
Technical Depth & Breadth
Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL is essential—you're comfortable writing queries, understanding data models, and designing database structures. Experience with Mobile Field Management (MFM), Work Order & Asset Management (WAMS), and Customer Engagement Portals strengthens your candidacy, as these systems frequently integrate with core CIS platforms. Familiarity with analyzing large datasets, data migration approaches, and data quality management is valuable. Knowledge of reporting and business intelligence platforms enables you to design comprehensive analytics solutions.
Communication & Presentation Skills
Excellent communication skills are non-negotiable. You can articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences—from utility field workers to C-level executives. Your presentation skills enable you to facilitate productive workshops, deliver compelling solution demonstrations, and present recommendations persuasively. You listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and ensure stakeholder alignment throughout projects.
Relationship Building & Collaboration
Strong interpersonal skills enable you to build trusted relationships with clients, senior management, and cross-functional team members. You work collaboratively, valuing diverse perspectives and fostering inclusive decision-making. Your professional demeanor, reliability, and genuine commitment to client success earn you credibility and respect.
Pressure Management & Prioritization
You thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift and multiple demands compete for attention. Your ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining quality standards and professional composure is essential. You manage time efficiently, prioritize ruthlessly, and know when to escalate issues or request support.
Implementation Methodology Knowledge
In-depth knowledge of implementation methodologies for large-scale software projects—whether Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches—guides your work. You understand project lifecycle phases, deliverables, governance structures, change management principles, and risk mitigation strategies. This knowledge enables you to navigate complex implementations successfully and help clients achieve their objectives on time and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, certain experiences and skills will position you for immediate impact and accelerated growth:
- Advanced certifications in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) or relevant technology platforms
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, understanding cloud-native architectures and modern deployment practices
- Utility industry expertise beyond CIS, including knowledge of distribution operations, renewable energy integration, demand response programs, or regulatory compliance
- Change management and training experience, enabling you to support clients through organizational transformation
- Pre-sales or consulting experience, demonstrating ability to articulate value propositions and guide clients through complex decisions
- Programming or scripting knowledge that enables you to review code, validate technical approaches, and communicate effectively with development teams
