Job Purpose
To lead motor technology innovation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions. Guide innovative motor propositions for performance, durability and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic direction for motor design and development, driving innovation and ensuring alignment with product roadmaps.
Oversee motor technology projects focusing on energy conservation, digitalisation, and automation.
Collaborate with senior leadership to align motor development with long-term business and product strategies.
Guide teams in developing high-impact motor solutions and resolving complex technical challenges.
Oversee project reviews and approvals, ensuring projects meet technical and business objectives efficiently.
Guide juniors in developing effective design validation plans (DVPs) for POC validations with the Validation team.
Organise hackathons, workshops, and innovation-driven events to foster creativity and collaboration.
Conduct strategic IP landscaping and technology scouting to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
Guide development and application of predictive engineering tools using first principles and empirical models.
Mentor team members in using predictive engineering and digital simulation tools to forecast performance and lifespan.
Educational Qualifications
Essential: BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Electrical Engineering
Ph.D is desirable
Work Experience
15-20 years of experience in motor design engineering or related fields.
Experience with BLDC, single-phase induction, Universal motor, Axial flux, SRM and PCB motor design preferred.
Experience of industrialisation of motors with CFTs and supply partners is desirable.
Certifications
DFSS GB certification must have
Desirable: Design Thinking Certification, DFSS BB
Preferred / Additional Requirement
Design and development experience of AC universal motor, Brushed/Brushless DC motor, Single phase induction motor, PMSM, SRM, Stepper Motor.
DFSS Green Belt is required.
Awareness of RCA, problem-solving tools, and statistical techniques is desirable.

Internal: Engineering Design team, PRC, DQC, Product Development team, Tooling Teams, Advanced Development teams
External: End consumer
Functional Competencies
Expert understanding of electromagnetic principles and motor design theory applied to innovative projects.
Strategic proficiency in thermal and NVH aspects, including thermal management solutions.
Superior knowledge of advanced materials and selection criteria for critical motor applications.
Mastery in using simulation software like Ansys Maxwell to optimise motor performance.
Expertise in root cause failure analysis for motor tests and field failures.
Proficient in motor driving topologies and control algorithms (LV/HV BLDC drivers, FOC/Vector Control).
In-depth understanding of diverse motor technologies and innovative applications across industries.
Proficiency in structured problem-solving tools (Six Sigma, 8D, RCA) and IP processes.
Strong leadership in guiding cross-functional teams and ensuring documentation standards.
