This sustained achievement reflects our unwavering dedication to creating an environment where exceptional talent thrives, innovation flourishes, and diverse perspectives drive breakthrough solutions.

BAIN CAPABILITY NETWORK - YOUR GATEWAY TO GLOBAL IMPACT

In 2004, Bain established its presence in the Indian market by opening the Bain Capability Center in New Delhi. Today, this operation has evolved into the Bain Capability Network (BCN), a globally distributed network with nodes across various geographies, representing the largest unit of Expert Client Delivery (ECD). BCN plays a critical and strategic role in Bain's global operations, adding substantial value to case teams worldwide by providing sophisticated analytics and research solutions across all industries.

BCN's work spans diverse domains including corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence, and the development of Bain's intellectual property. The network comprises three main pillars: Consulting Services, Knowledge Services, and Shared Services. Working within BCN means you're not operating in a back office—you're an essential partner in delivering world-class consulting services to the world's leading organizations.

THE OPPORTUNITY - ASSOCIATE, CORPORATE FINANCE COE

We are seeking a talented Associate to join our Corporate Finance Center of Expertise in New Delhi. This permanent full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of strategic consulting and sophisticated financial analysis. You'll collaborate with Bain teams globally on corporate finance and capital markets projects, developing solutions that address critical CXO concerns and shape long-term shareholder value creation strategies.

In this role, you'll work on highly customizable offerings and tailored analyses that equip the C-Suite with the right tools to make informed strategic decisions. Your work will span financial diagnostics, valuation analysis, capital structure optimization, and the development of Bain's intellectual property in corporate finance. This position provides exceptional exposure to diverse industries, complex business challenges, and senior leadership while building deep expertise in corporate finance within a consulting context.

YOUR TEAM - CORPORATE FINANCE AND STRATEGY COE

The Corporate Finance teams are integral parts of the Corporate Finance and Strategy Center of Expertise (CF&S CoE), which serves as an innovation partner for Bain's Global Strategy Practice. The CoE enables cutting-edge intellectual property development, point-of-view commercialization, and flawless client delivery. Our strength lies in our people—experts across different aspects of strategy including business and corporate strategy, CEO and leadership ways of working, and corporate finance.

These capabilities are backed by solid expertise in research, analytics, and stakeholder management. The Corporate Finance team works with Bain teams across the globe, providing solutions to corporate finance and capital markets-related challenges. The team conducts comprehensive financial diagnostics for client companies, codifies Bain's intellectual property, and contributes to developing new frameworks and methodologies that advance the firm's capabilities.

Working within this team means collaborating with some of the sharpest financial minds in consulting, tackling problems that range from valuation disputes and capital allocation decisions to M&A strategy and investor relations optimization. While the team works across geographies and industries, the focus remains almost exclusively on corporate finance-related projects, allowing you to develop deep, specialized expertise.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT AREAS

TEAM COLLABORATION AND CASE EXECUTION

As a Corporate Finance Associate, you'll play a vital team member role on BCN cases, sometimes leading simpler cases independently and at other times driving analysis on more complicated cases with significant direction from a Project Leader, Manager, or Senior Manager. Your responsibilities will evolve as you gain experience, with increasing autonomy and accountability for project outcomes.

You'll be responsible for executing and sometimes driving the team's overall answer, final materials, client communication, work planning, and team management on capital markets and corporate finance-related projects. This means you're not just conducting analysis in isolation—you're helping shape the strategic narrative and recommendations that clients will use to make major business decisions.

ANALYTICAL LEADERSHIP AND INSIGHT GENERATION

The core of your role involves producing high-quality, client-ready research and analysis. You must understand the implications of your findings and generate strong business insights that answer the "so what" question. Your analysis should connect financial performance to broader business strategy, helping clients understand not just what the numbers say but what actions they should take as a result.

You'll need to think through the impact of changes in financial metrics across financial statements and their implications for valuation. This requires deep understanding of how business decisions flow through to financial outcomes and ultimately to shareholder value. You'll make sense of financial data—explaining reasons for high or low growth rates, margin variations, return profiles, valuation multiples, leverage levels, and the accompanying competitive dynamics that drive these metrics.

FINANCIAL MODELING AND VALUATION

A significant portion of your work involves financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and valuation. You'll need a strong understanding of valuation principles and the ability to connect financial performance to market valuations. Your "flair for numbers" and knowledge of equity markets will enable you to generate compelling insights and develop robust equity stories that resonate with C-level executives and investors.

You'll build sophisticated financial models that forecast company performance under different scenarios, evaluate strategic alternatives, assess capital structure optimization opportunities, and value businesses or business units for various purposes. Your models must be both technically rigorous and practically useful—striking the right balance between complexity and clarity.

TEAM MANAGEMENT AND MENTORSHIP

You may manage one to three Analysts, taking responsibility for sharing appropriate information across work streams and ensuring that team members have what they need to be successful. You'll provide feedback and coach Analysts on task execution and their broader role development. The expectation is that you'll eventually provide significant direction and support to help team members resolve complex issues.

This mentorship responsibility extends beyond just reviewing work—you'll help Analysts understand the business context of their tasks, develop their analytical skills, and grow their professional capabilities. Your ability to develop others directly contributes to the strength of the team and the broader organization.

COMMUNICATION AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

You'll communicate data, knowledge, and insights to the entire team, ensuring that everyone understands the implications of financial analysis for the broader case. You'll generate and screen realistic solutions based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions that clients can implement.

Effectively structuring communication of insights from your workstream is crucial. You'll deliver clear and professional presentations to team leaders and managers, and eventually to clients. This requires translating complex financial concepts into accessible language without oversimplifying important nuances. You'll need to manage client and team meetings effectively, representing the analytical perspective while staying attuned to strategic and operational considerations.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONTRIBUTION

Beyond project work, you'll consistently seek and provide meaningful, actionable feedback in all interactions. You'll recognize different skills and development needs in yourself and work actively toward addressing them. This growth mindset is essential in a fast-paced consulting environment where challenges evolve rapidly and expectations increase over time.

You'll also assist with office management roles including recruiting, marketing, and training activities. This might involve interviewing candidates, representing BCN at campus events, or conducting training sessions on financial analysis techniques. These contributions strengthen the organization and help shape the future of the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Candidates should be graduates or postgraduates with a specialization in finance and strong academic records. Educational excellence provides the foundation for the rigorous analytical work required in this role. Preference is given to candidates with professional qualifications such as CA (Chartered Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), which demonstrate deep commitment to financial expertise and technical mastery.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The required experience varies based on your highest qualification. If your highest qualification is undergraduate studies, you should have two to five years of relevant experience. If your highest qualification is postgraduate studies, you should have zero to three years of relevant experience. This experience should be in investment banking, equity research, or consulting with corporate finance exposure.

The quality of experience matters as much as the quantity. Ideal candidates will have worked in environments that demanded rigorous financial analysis, clear communication of complex concepts, and the ability to work under pressure to deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.

TECHNICAL AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS

Financial Analysis Expertise: You must have a strong understanding of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and underlying valuation principles. This goes beyond textbook knowledge—you need the ability to connect financial performance to valuations in meaningful ways. Your "flair for numbers" should be complemented by fair knowledge of equity markets, enabling you to generate compelling insights and develop robust equity stories.

Business and Strategic Thinking: You should be a proficient professional with sound business logic and thought leadership capabilities. The ability to structure approaches to answer complex business questions is essential. You'll need to cross-link different business models and multiple industries' key dynamics, using key drivers and KPIs to understand operational and financial performance.

Cross-Industry Perspective: Understanding how different industries operate, what drives value in each, and how financial performance varies across sectors is valuable. This broader perspective allows you to apply learnings from one context to another and to provide richer insights that account for industry-specific dynamics.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are required—these are your primary tools for analysis and communication. Your Excel skills should extend beyond basic formulas to include sophisticated modeling techniques, while your PowerPoint abilities should enable you to create clear, compelling presentations that tell coherent stories.

Exposure to Python and Generative AI would be preferred, reflecting the evolving nature of financial analysis. As these technologies become more prevalent in consulting, familiarity with them positions you for future success and enables you to leverage emerging tools to enhance your analytical capabilities.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

Analytical Excellence: You should possess excellent analytical skills with the ability to dissect complex problems, identify key issues, and develop structured approaches to finding solutions. Your analysis should be both rigorous and practical, balancing theoretical soundness with real-world applicability.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and verbal. You must articulate complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences, from technical team members to senior business executives. Your communication should be precise without being overly technical, accessible without being simplistic.

Team Collaboration: You should be an excellent team player who works effectively with diverse colleagues, sharing knowledge generously and supporting others' success. Consulting is fundamentally collaborative, and your ability to work well with others directly impacts project outcomes.

Performance Under Pressure: The ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure is crucial. Client projects often involve tight deadlines and evolving requirements. Your ability to maintain quality while managing competing priorities will be tested regularly and will significantly influence your success.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT (PREFERRED)

It's good to have first-level team management responsibility experience, including allocating and reviewing work for small teams of analysts and conducting performance discussions. Experience writing reviews for appraisal processes demonstrates that you understand how to evaluate performance, provide constructive feedback, and support team members' development.

As you progress, you'll take on increasing responsibility for case leadership, team management, and client relationships. The skills you develop—financial analysis, strategic thinking, communication, team leadership—create a strong foundation for your long-term career, whether you choose to advance within Bain's consulting practice, move into client-side strategic finance roles, or pursue other opportunities in the financial services industry.

The combination of technical financial expertise and consulting capabilities positions you uniquely in the talent market. You'll understand not just how to analyze financial data, but how to use that analysis to drive strategic decisions and create lasting business impact.
