Your Daily Impact
As an Automation Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of technological innovation, designing and implementing world-class automation solutions that eliminate manual processes and drive organizational efficiency. Each day, you'll tackle complex challenges that directly impact our global operations and contribute to scientific breakthroughs worldwide.
Automation Architecture & Development
Design, build, and implement comprehensive end-to-end automation workflows using industry-leading tools including Ansible, StackStorm, Terraform, Python, and modern orchestration platforms. You'll transform manual, time-consuming processes into streamlined, automated operations that scale across our enterprise infrastructure. Your automation solutions will reduce operational overhead, minimize human error, and accelerate delivery timelines across multiple business units. You'll architect workflows that handle everything from infrastructure provisioning and configuration management to application deployment and system remediation. Working with cutting-edge technologies, you'll create intelligent automation that adapts to changing business requirements and scales seamlessly as our organization grows.
Enterprise Systems Integration
Integrate complex enterprise systems such as ServiceNow with monitoring platforms like BigPanda and operational backends to deliver seamless self-service experiences. Your integration work will empower teams across the organization to operate more efficiently and respond faster to business needs. You'll develop robust APIs, webhooks, and event-driven integrations that connect disparate systems into a cohesive automation ecosystem. You'll conduct proof-of-concept projects to validate new tools and approaches before enterprise-wide adoption. Stay current with industry trends, attend technical conferences, and participate in automation communities to bring fresh ideas and innovative solutions to our organization. You'll identify opportunities for automation where manual processes create bottlenecks or introduce risk, then champion initiatives to modernize and optimize these workflows.
Knowledge Sharing & Documentation
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, reusable components, and operational runbooks that enable faster adoption of automation solutions while systematically reducing technical debt across the organization. You'll develop detailed technical guides, architecture diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures that empower other teams to leverage automation effectively. Your documentation will serve as a knowledge repository that accelerates onboarding for new team members and ensures consistency in implementation standards. You'll also conduct training sessions and workshops to build automation capabilities across the broader IT organization.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
Continuously monitor and optimize automation workflows to ensure maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. You'll implement comprehensive logging, metrics collection, and alerting mechanisms that provide visibility into automation execution.
