The Opportunity
We're seeking an exceptional Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our People Services team in our Hyderabad office. This role is perfect for someone who is genuinely passionate about all aspects of employee relations but also wants the unique opportunity to have meaningful impact on Wise's mission while supporting our Wisers, team leads, and wider organizational teams in delivering a seamless employee experience throughout the entire 'Wiser' journey.
Reporting to our APAC Employee Relations Regional Lead based in Singapore, you'll play a strategic role in shaping employee relations practices across the Asia-Pacific region while being based in our dynamic Hyderabad office. This isn't just a traditional HR role—it's an opportunity to combine deep employee relations expertise with strategic advisory capabilities, data analytics, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, mission-driven fintech environment.
Your Mission
As one unified team, our vision is to create fast, convenient, and transparent support for Wisers, powered by smart technology and human expertise. To help us achieve this ambitious vision, you'll have the exciting opportunity to own Employee Relations (ER) matters across multiple business functions in APAC, providing critical insights and sound recommendations for policy and process changes while ensuring key stakeholders are continually informed of legislation, law, and regulation updates.
You'll provide valuable input on team goals, key performance indicators, operational efficiencies, process improvements, and future optimization of our People Services team through deliverables in both local and global projects. Your strategic thinking and analytical capabilities will directly influence how we support and empower our growing workforce.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Employee Relations Advisory
You'll serve as a trusted and accountable specialist supporting end-to-end employee relations matters within dedicated business functions. This means supporting and advising Wisers and team leads through a significant volume and range of situations, including highly complex cases spanning from internal conflict management to external escalated matters that require sophisticated resolution strategies.
Your role requires expertly balancing our organizational exposure and appetite to risk while ensuring fair, compliant, and empathetic resolution of employee relations issues. You'll navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment, always keeping both the individual's wellbeing and the organization's interests in perspective.
Cross-Geographical Collaboration
You'll partner with Employee Relations Advisors around the globe on cross-geographical ER cases, navigating complexity and demonstrating flexibility while considering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles, legal considerations, and best practices across different jurisdictions. This requires understanding cultural nuances, varying employment laws, and different workplace expectations across the APAC region and beyond.
Your ability to collaborate effectively with global colleagues, share knowledge, and develop consistent approaches while respecting local differences will be essential to success in this role.
People Partner Collaboration
You'll collaborate closely with People Partners (HR Business Partners) to complement their functional business insights with your specialized ER data and expertise. This partnership model ensures that business units receive comprehensive people support combining strategic business alignment with deep employee relations specialization.
Your ER expertise will inform talent strategies, organizational design decisions, leadership development initiatives, and change management approaches, ensuring employee relations considerations are integrated into broader people strategies.
Data Analysis and Trend Identification
You'll analyze and identify data-driven trends to help educate and advise business functions and the Senior Leadership team on focus areas and improved ER practices. This involves examining patterns in employee relations cases, identifying root causes of recurring issues, and translating data insights into actionable recommendations.
Your analytical work will surface early warning indicators, highlight systemic issues requiring intervention, demonstrate the impact of ER initiatives, and inform strategic workforce planning decisions.
Employment Law Compliance and Expertise
You'll proactively stay current with local employment laws and working practices in India and across APAC markets, sharing knowledge and collaborating with other subject matter experts to ensure our guidelines, policies, and processes remain compliant while continuing to deliver customer-centric advice to internal stakeholders.
This requires monitoring legislative changes, understanding regulatory requirements, assessing compliance risks, and translating complex legal concepts into practical guidance that managers and employees can understand and apply.
Project Leadership and Contribution
You'll own and contribute to projects on both local and global levels, providing advisory input to help collaboratively shape Wise's future as we continue growing rapidly. This includes participating in policy development initiatives, system implementations, process redesign efforts, and other strategic people projects.
Your project contributions will leverage your ER expertise while developing your capabilities in change management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.
Training and Knowledge Development
You'll update and deliver People-related training sessions to upskill team leads and address knowledge gaps highlighted in ER data. This involves designing training content, facilitating workshops, creating reference materials, and evaluating training effectiveness.
Your training initiatives will build ER capabilities across the organization, preventing issues through education, and creating a shared understanding of expectations, policies, and best practices.
Cross-Functional Support
You'll provide additional support to the wider People team and other organizational leaders with ad-hoc tasks, data queries, and project-based work. Your flexibility and willingness to contribute beyond your core responsibilities will strengthen team effectiveness and broaden your organizational impact.
Key Opportunities This Role Provides
Strategic Planning Contribution
You'll contribute strategic thinking to bi-annual planning cycles by collating data on stakeholder team performance, sharing ideas for improvements, and leading new projects. Your input will shape People Services priorities, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives.
Continuous Improvement Leadership
You'll create continuous improvement within the team by partnering with your global colleagues to recommend new approaches and changes in policies and procedures. You'll co-create solutions with both global consistency and mass customization perspectives, ensuring Wise's ER practices scale effectively while remaining locally relevant.
Maximized Advisory Impact
You'll maximize advisory impact and partnership by collaborating with People Partners and senior stakeholders to share advisory data and trends, driving empowered and inclusive stakeholder relationships. Your insights will inform decision-making at the highest organizational levels.
Professional Development
You'll develop expertise across multiple dimensions—deepening your ER specialization while building capabilities in data analytics, strategic advisory, cross-cultural collaboration, and organizational development. This role provides a platform for becoming a true ER leader with both depth and breadth of expertise.
Required Qualifications
Employee Relations Expertise
You bring deep expertise in employee relations, including thorough knowledge of employment law, conflict resolution, investigation methodologies, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and performance management. You understand the nuances of managing complex ER cases while balancing empathy with accountability.
Advisory and Consulting Skills
You excel at providing strategic advice to leaders and employees, translating complex situations into clear recommendations, and influencing outcomes without direct authority. Your consulting approach builds trust, demonstrates credibility, and achieves positive results.
Analytical Capabilities
You're comfortable working with data, identifying trends, and translating insights into actionable strategies. You understand HR metrics, can build compelling data narratives, and use evidence to support recommendations.
Legal and Compliance Knowledge
You possess strong knowledge of employment law, particularly in India and ideally across APAC markets. You stay current with regulatory changes, understand compliance risks, and can apply legal principles to practical workplace situations while seeking appropriate legal counsel when needed.
Communication Excellence
You communicate effectively with diverse audiences—from frontline employees to senior executives—adapting your style while maintaining clarity and professionalism. You're skilled at difficult conversations, presenting to groups, and writing clear documentation.
Cross-Cultural Competence
You work effectively across cultures, time zones, and geographies, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and adaptability. You understand that best practices may vary by location and can navigate these differences thoughtfully.
Project Management
You manage projects effectively, coordinating multiple stakeholders, meeting deadlines, and delivering quality outcomes. You're organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
Collaboration and Relationship Building
You build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, earning trust through consistency, integrity, and results. You're a team player who contributes to positive team culture and supports colleagues' success.
Growth Mindset
You're committed to continuous learning, staying current with ER trends and best practices, and developing new capabilities. You seek feedback, reflect on experiences, and continuously improve your effectiveness.
