The Role
We are a lean but growing engineering team working in the e-commerce payment processing space. As we expand, we are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our File Processing squad and take ownership of our legacy-to-modern pipeline migration — turning batch jobs that process payment scheme files into scalable, observable, Python-based services.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Re-architecture: Migrate legacy Perl batch jobs into modern Python-based services.
- Workflow Orchestration: Design orchestration using Prefect or Airflow with monitoring dashboards.
- Data Layer Ownership: Own data ingestion to S3, parsing, and persisting to PostgreSQL / RDS.
- Financial Domain Logic: Process and reconcile payment scheme files (clearing, settlement, chargebacks).

- 5+ years backend software development experience with strong Python skills.
- Exposure to legacy Perl codebases during migration is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Prefect, Airflow, and AWS (S3, RDS, CloudWatch).
- Solid SQL and PostgreSQL optimization skills.

- Languages: Exceptional proficiency in Go, Java, or Python.
- Domain: High-throughput file processing systems and payment gateways.
- Cloud & Infra: AWS cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
