Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and innovative Data Engineer to join our dynamic Data Engineering Team in Brazil under a PJ (Pessoa Jurídica) contract structure. This is an exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and digital advertising, building the data infrastructure that powers decisions for thousands of brands worldwide.

As a Data Engineer at Quartile, you will be part of the team responsible for designing and implementing sophisticated data pipelines that connect to the world's most important advertising channels, including Amazon, Google, Facebook, Instacart, Walmart, and numerous other major platforms. Your work will directly impact how billions of dollars in advertising spend is optimized, making this role both technically challenging and tremendously impactful.

This position offers the unique opportunity to work with massive-scale data systems, modern cloud architecture, and advanced technologies while contributing to a platform that has been recognized as industry-leading. You'll collaborate with talented engineers, data scientists, and product teams to solve complex problems and continuously improve the reliability, performance, and capabilities of our data infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Development and Optimization

You will design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Python and PySpark, integrating with APIs from world-leading marketing platforms. These pipelines form the backbone of our platform, ingesting billions of data points daily to power our AI-driven optimization algorithms. Your code will need to handle massive data volumes efficiently while maintaining data quality and reliability.

Architecture Design and Implementation

Working closely with senior engineers and architects, you'll contribute to designing scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) architectures using modern technologies like Databricks and Azure Functions. You'll make critical decisions about data modeling, storage strategies, and processing workflows that impact the entire engineering organization.

Monitoring and Observability

Building data pipelines is only half the battle—ensuring they run reliably is equally important. You'll develop sophisticated monitoring systems that provide visibility into pipeline health, data quality, and performance metrics. When issues arise, your monitoring solutions will enable rapid detection and resolution.

Performance Optimization

You'll regularly profile backend services and databases to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities. This involves analyzing query performance, tuning Spark jobs, optimizing data lake storage patterns, and implementing caching strategies to ensure our systems can scale with growing client demand.

Quality Assurance and Testing

You'll develop comprehensive test suites including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests to ensure data pipeline reliability. Your commitment to quality will help maintain the high standards our clients expect from Quartile's platform.

Data Lake Management

Working with Azure Data Lake and Delta Lake technologies, you'll consume, transform, and organize massive datasets to support various downstream use cases including analytics, machine learning models, and API request generation.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing

You'll create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for the systems you build, ensuring that your teammates can understand, maintain, and extend your work. You'll also contribute to architectural decision records and participate in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards across the team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

You'll work closely with data scientists who rely on your pipelines for model training, product managers who define requirements for new data sources, and platform engineers who maintain the infrastructure your code runs on. Effective communication and collaboration are essential to success in this role.
