The ideal candidate will bring 8-12 years of comprehensive SAP experience, including a minimum of 3-4 complete end-to-end implementations and at least 2-3 support projects. About the Role
As our SAP ABAP Consultant, you will serve as a critical technical resource responsible for designing, developing, and implementing custom SAP solutions that drive business value across our organization. You will be working onsite at our Chennai facility, collaborating directly with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into elegant, efficient technical solutions.

Core Responsibilities and Expertise Areas
Custom Development Excellence
You will demonstrate thorough knowledge and hands-on development experience across the complete spectrum of SAP ABAP development components. This includes creating sophisticated Reports that provide actionable business intelligence, developing Remote Function Calls (RFCs) for system integration, designing Forms for business document generation, and implementing object-oriented programming using OOPS ABAP principles.
Your expertise will extend to developing and configuring Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs) that enable standardized access to SAP business processes. You will implement various Enhancement techniques including Business Add-Ins (BADI), User Exits, and Customer Exits to extend standard SAP functionality without modifying core code, ensuring upgrade compatibility and system stability.
Data Migration and Integration Mastery
A significant aspect of your role involves managing data conversions and system integrations using multiple methodologies. You will have proven experience with Batch Data Communication (BDC) for high-volume data uploads, Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) for structured data migration, and Intermediate Documents (IDOC's) for electronic data interchange between SAP and external systems.
Your knowledge of Application Link Enabling (ALE) will be essential for configuring distributed SAP landscapes and ensuring seamless data flow between systems. Additionally, you will design and implement Workflows that automate business processes and ensure efficient task routing across the organization.
Object-Oriented Programming and Modern Development
Working experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs) methodology is crucial for this role. You will apply OOP principles to create maintainable, scalable, and reusable code components. Your familiarity with ABAP new syntaxes introduced in recent SAP releases will enable you to write more efficient code and leverage modern language features that improve development productivity.
Performance Optimisation Specialist
You will be proficient in Performance Tuning techniques, ensuring that all developed solutions meet stringent performance requirements even under heavy transaction volumes. Your testing and debugging skills will be instrumental in identifying and resolving issues quickly, minimizing business disruption and maintaining system reliability.
You will conduct comprehensive code reviews, identify performance bottlenecks using SAP performance analysis tools, and implement optimization strategies including database index management, SQL statement optimization, and memory management best practices.
Estimation and Technical Design Leadership
Hands-on expertise in determining or validating development effort estimates is essential. You will work closely with functional teams to review Technical Specification Documents, ensuring that proposed solutions are technically feasible, align with architectural standards, and can be delivered within project timelines and budget constraints.
Your ability to provide accurate estimates based on complexity analysis and historical data will support effective project planning and resource allocation. You will also contribute to architectural decisions, recommending optimal approaches for solving complex technical challenges.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
Experience Requirements
We require candidates with 8-12 years of overall SAP experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and increasing technical responsibility. Your background must include a minimum of 3-4 end-to-end implementation projects where you participated in the complete project lifecycle from requirements gathering through go-live and hypercare support.
Additionally, you should have contributed to at least 2-3 support projects, demonstrating your ability to maintain and enhance existing SAP landscapes, troubleshoot production issues, and implement continuous improvements in live environments.
Communication and Collaboration
Clear written and verbal communication in a technical context is required. You must be able to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, document solutions comprehensively, and create knowledge transfer materials that enable team members to understand and maintain your developments.
The ability to work effectively with Business users, Functional consultants, and Technical team members is essential. You will serve as a bridge between business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring that all stakeholders understand project status, risks, and dependencies.

You must demonstrate experience managing competing priorities, working under pressure, and consistently meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
