What This Job Can Offer You
As a Senior Associate in Corporate Finance at Remote, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the company's strategic growth through mergers and acquisitions, capital raising initiatives, market expansion analysis, and critical strategic projects. This is a high-impact position that combines the excitement of deal execution with the strategic thinking required to guide a rapidly scaling global technology company.
You'll work at the intersection of finance, strategy, and operations, collaborating with senior leadership, external advisors, investors, and cross-functional teams to execute transactions and strategic initiatives that shape Remote's future. This role offers the intellectual challenge of top-tier investment banking or private equity work combined with the direct impact and ownership opportunities available in a high-growth technology company.
Core Responsibilities
Mergers & Acquisitions Strategy and Execution
You'll evaluate inbound M&A opportunities, conducting thorough analysis of potential acquisition targets to determine strategic fit, financial attractiveness, and integration feasibility. You'll proactively identify and reach out to potential acquisition targets that align with Remote's strategic objectives, building relationships and initiating preliminary discussions.
Your M&A responsibilities extend to full deal execution—collaborating with internal stakeholders including Legal, Product, Engineering, Operations, and executive leadership, as well as external parties such as investment bankers, legal advisors, and the target company's management team. You'll coordinate due diligence processes, build comprehensive financial models analyzing deal scenarios, prepare materials for internal decision-making and external presentations, and support negotiations through closing.
This hands-on M&A work means you'll gain exposure to the complete deal lifecycle while contributing directly to Remote's growth through strategic acquisitions that expand our capabilities, geographic reach, or customer base.
Strategic Market and Product Expansion Analysis
You'll perform rigorous analyses supporting Remote's expansion into new products and markets globally. This involves conducting market sizing studies, competitive landscape assessments, customer needs analysis, regulatory review, financial projections, and go-to-market strategy evaluation.
Your analytical work will inform critical decisions about which markets to enter, which products to build or acquire, how to prioritize resource allocation, and what success metrics to establish. You'll synthesize complex information from multiple sources, identify key insights, and present clear recommendations to senior leadership.
These strategic analyses directly influence Remote's product roadmap and geographic expansion strategy, making your work highly visible and impactful.
Ad Hoc Strategic Projects
You'll lead and support ad hoc strategic projects that are critical to Remote's growth trajectory. These might include partnership evaluations, pricing strategy optimization, business model innovation, organizational design analysis, competitive intelligence initiatives, or scenario planning exercises.
The variety and strategic importance of these projects means you'll develop broad business acumen while building deep relationships across the organization. Your ability to quickly understand new domains, structure ambiguous problems, and deliver actionable insights will be essential.
Corporate Financial Modeling and Planning
You'll support the Strategic Finance team with Remote's annual planning process and long-term corporate financial model. This involves building and maintaining sophisticated financial models that incorporate multiple business scenarios, updating assumptions based on actual performance and market conditions, conducting sensitivity analyses, and producing materials for board presentations and strategic planning sessions.
Your modeling work provides the quantitative foundation for strategic decision-making, ensuring that leadership has accurate forecasts and scenario analyses to guide the business.
Investor Relations and Reporting
You'll manage financial reporting and handle ad hoc requests from investors and internal stakeholders. This includes preparing quarterly investor updates, responding to specific information requests, creating board presentation materials, maintaining investor data rooms, and ensuring transparent communication with our investor base.
Your investor relations work maintains strong relationships with our financial partners while ensuring they have the information needed to support Remote's continued growth.
Capital Raising Execution
You'll support the execution of equity and debt capital raising transactions, participating in every phase from initial planning through successful closing. This includes preparing offering materials such as confidential information memoranda, financial projections, and management presentations, coordinating internal and external stakeholders including executives, legal counsel, and investment bankers, facilitating the due diligence process by organizing information requests and managing timelines, and ultimately supporting transaction close and post-closing activities.
Your capital markets experience will help Remote access the funding needed to execute its ambitious growth plans while maintaining favorable terms and strong investor relationships.
What You Bring
Relevant Professional Experience
You bring proven experience from investment banking, private equity, management consulting, high-growth startups, or public technology companies. Your background has equipped you with sophisticated analytical skills, exposure to complex transactions, understanding of corporate finance principles, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
Your experience has taught you how to structure problems, conduct rigorous analysis, present findings persuasively, and execute transactions successfully.
Expert Financial Modeling Skills
You possess expert-level financial modeling capabilities, including demonstrated experience building complete company operating models with integrated financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow), long-term strategic plans spanning 5-10 years, complex M&A models with multiple scenarios and sensitivities, and capital structure optimization analyses.
Your models are sophisticated yet understandable, technically accurate yet presentation-ready. You understand not just the mechanics of modeling but the underlying business drivers and strategic implications.
Transaction Execution Track Record
You have successfully closed at least one M&A transaction or equity/debt capital raising, either in a corporate role or as an advisor. You understand the complete lifecycle of transactions—from initial screening and valuation through due diligence, negotiation, documentation, and closing.
Your transaction experience means you can anticipate challenges, navigate complex stakeholder dynamics, maintain momentum during difficult periods, and drive deals to successful completion.
Relationship Building and Collaboration
You demonstrate a proven ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with business partners at all organizational levels—from frontline team members to C-suite executives, from external advisors to board members. You communicate effectively, earn trust quickly, navigate organizational politics diplomatically, and achieve results through influence rather than authority.
Your collaborative approach makes you an effective partner across Remote's globally distributed organization.
Self-Starter Mentality and Adaptability
You thrive in unstructured, fast-paced environments where priorities shift, ambiguity is common, and resourcefulness is essential. You take initiative without waiting for direction, identify problems proactively, propose solutions independently, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
Your self-starter mentality means you're comfortable with the autonomy and responsibility inherent in Remote's async, distributed work environment.
Analytical Excellence and Attention to Detail
You possess excellent analytical skills combining quantitative rigor with qualitative judgment, intellectual curiosity with practical business sense, and strategic thinking with meticulous attention to detail. You catch errors before they become problems, question assumptions rigorously, and validate conclusions thoroughly.
Your analytical excellence ensures that your work withstands scrutiny from sophisticated audiences including investors, board members, and acquirers.
Remote Work Readiness
While prior remote work experience isn't required, it's considered a significant plus. You're comfortable with asynchronous communication, written documentation as the primary collaboration method, self-directed work without daily face-to-face interaction, and the discipline required to maintain productivity in a fully remote environment.
Language Proficiency
You write and speak fluent English, Remote's standardized business language. Your communication skills enable you to produce clear written analyses, deliver compelling presentations, and collaborate effectively with global colleagues.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What does "work from anywhere" really mean?
You can work from any location globally that allows you to maintain good internet connectivity and work during hours that enable collaboration with your team. Many Remoters travel frequently or live as digital nomads, while others prefer working from one primary location. The choice is yours.
What types of M&A deals will I work on?
You'll evaluate and execute M&A transactions aligned with Remote's strategic priorities, which may include technology acquisitions to enhance our platform capabilities, geographic expansion through local market leaders, talent acquisitions (acqui-hires), and strategic partnerships that could evolve into acquisitions.
How technical do I need to be?
While you don't need to be a software engineer, understanding technology business models, SaaS metrics, and the capabilities/limitations of technology platforms is valuable. You should be comfortable discussing technical concepts with engineering teams and evaluating technology-focused companies.
What's the work-life balance like?
Remote prioritizes work-life balance through flexible hours, async work reducing meeting overload, unlimited PTO, and genuine cultural support for putting family and wellbeing first. That said, corporate finance work sometimes requires intense periods during active transactions or capital raises. You'll have autonomy to manage your schedule around these demands.
Will I have deal ownership or just support roles?
As a Senior Associate, you'll have significant ownership over analyses and workstreams, potentially leading smaller transactions or strategic projects independently. You'll work closely with the Senior Manager on larger transactions while developing toward eventually leading deals yourself.
How big is the Corporate Finance team?
Remote is scaling rapidly, and team size evolves with company growth. You'll work within a lean, high-impact team where individual contributions are highly visible and valued. The small team size means significant ownership and accelerated learning.
Will I need to travel?
This role is fully remote with no regular travel requirements. Occasionally, Remote may host team gatherings or strategic offsites, and certain transactions might benefit from in-person meetings, but these are infrequent and optional when possible.
What's the culture like on the Finance team?
The Finance team combines intellectual rigor with collaborative support, high standards with work-life balance, analytical excellence with creative problem-solving, and global diversity with unified purpose. We value transparency, continuous improvement, and making data-driven decisions while maintaining humility and humor.
