Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Staff Engineer to join our trading platform development team. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced C++ developers who are passionate about building best-in-class trading solutions that enhance customer experience and help clients achieve their financial goals.
As a key member of our technology team, you will be instrumental in developing plugins and tools for the MetaTrader platform within StoneX's backend infrastructure. Your work will encompass all critical phases of trade execution, including pricing, pre-trade checks, trade execution, and processing execution reports. You'll be working on systems that directly impact our clients' trading experience and must maintain the highest standards of reliability, performance, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Development
- Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated trading system components using modern C++ standards (C++11, C++14, C++17 or newer)
- Collaborate closely with the QA team to ensure the reliability, performance, and stability of trading systems and components
- Participate actively in the design and architectural review of new features and system enhancements
- Implement multi-threaded applications with a strong focus on performance optimization and scalability
- Develop and maintain network programming solutions for high-performance trading environments
Problem Solving & Investigation
- Investigate and resolve live production issues using comprehensive debugging and analytical techniques
- Apply critical thinking to understand complex problems and develop effective, sustainable solutions
- Ensure minimal system downtime through proactive monitoring and rapid issue resolution
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Interact with teams across business and technology departments to deliver optimal solutions
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Foster knowledge sharing and collaboration within the engineering team
Architecture & Best Practices
- Ensure that all solutions align with industry best practices and modern design principles
- Maintain a strong focus on solution design with emphasis on performance and scalability
- Apply solid object-oriented programming principles and design patterns to create maintainable, extensible code
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in capital markets, brokerage platforms, and the broader financial technology ecosystem
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Extensive C++ Experience: Minimum 10 years of professional C++ development experience in brokerage, high-frequency trading, financial services, or similar environments
- Modern C++ Standards: Strong proficiency in C++11, C++14, C++17 or newer standards
- Framework Experience: Hands-on experience with Boost, Poco, or similar C++ frameworks
- Database Skills: Experience with MS SQL and SQL Server
- Cloud Development: Understanding of cloud development patterns and practices
- Design Principles: Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
- Messaging Systems: Understanding of and experience with messaging systems such as ActiveMQ, Kafka, or ZeroMQ
- API Development: Experience with REST API development
- Concurrent Programming: Proven experience with multi-threading and network programming
Professional Experience
- Demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality software solutions in fast-paced, mission-critical environments
- Experience working in agile development methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications

- Additional Programming Languages: Experience with C# and Python development
- Low Latency Development: Understanding of and experience with low-latency system design and optimization
- NoSQL Databases: Experience with NoSQL databases, Redis, or KeyDB
- Trading Platform Experience: Familiarity with MetaTrader or similar trading platforms
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Equivalent professional training and experience will be considered
